The Margin of Error

The margin of error is
Very, very thin
The slightest mistake
Is like losing going in
The cost is astronomical
It’s almost tragic, comical
Why does this happen
Again and again?
(and again)

It doesn’t help, taking all the blame
Just don’t let it happen moving forward
We can’t afford to be always falling backward
A punch in the gut
A slap in the face
Disgraced

I can’t continue polishing this great big turd
Our reputation isn’t great, (haven’t you heard?)
But one more time, regenerate
A positive spin to second rate
I am the king of fools
In the corner, on a stool
Back in school

The margin of error is
Very, very thin
The slightest mistake
Is like losing going in
The cost is astronomical
It’s almost tragic, comical
Why does this happen
Again and again?
(and again)

The margin of error
Is compounded by the fear
And exponentialed by the power
Of every fading year

Again and again
(and again)
Again and again
(and again)
Again and again
(and again)
Again and again
(and again)

The margin of error is
Very, very thin
The slightest mistake
Is like losing going in
The cost is astronomical
It’s almost tragic, comical
Why does this happen
Again and again?
(and again)

I wanted to write a song about the ambiguity of that movie and the ambiguity of everything when we’re young, how we playact good and bad behavior in order to figure out who we are.Sarah Coolidge
