Kite On a String

This kite on a string
Is moving to and fro
And this kite on a string
Doesn’t know which way to go

Now I know it’s not just me
And I know it’s just not true
Yes, I know it’s not just me
Who feels the way I do

This kite on a string
Was just flying ’round and ’round
But this kite on a string
Is now falling to the ground

g

Now I know it’s not just me
And I know it’s just not true
Yes, I know it’s not just me
Who feels the way I do

This kite on a string
Struggles to be free
But this kite on a string
Has now crashed into a tree

g

Now I know it’s not just me
And I know it’s just not true
Yes, I know it’s not just me
Who feels the way I do

Now I know it’s not just me
And I know it’s just not true
Yes, I know it’s not just me
Who feels the way I do

Now I know it’s not just me
And I know it’s just not true
Yes, I know it’s not just me
Who feels the way I do

Additional Versions

This is the original recording. I like this one; in some ways I like it better, despite or because of its more raw approach. My recordings often have specific things about them where I did something new or unique or maybe surprising to me. I like the homespun percussion on this one which was done by tapping out the drums from Cakewalk’s drum sounds. The song was recording at the house on Texas St. I shared with Joe Maki. It’s the only song I recorded with Cakewalk on the old PC I had to run my business. The vocal harmonies are something else I like.

Covers

One of my favorite recording artists I encountered through reviewing music in GAJOOB made a cover of my Kite On a String song. I wish I could share his work, but he prefers to remain redacted.

He took the song and made it his own and it’s really quite awesome, if you ask me.

Hey — why don’t you make a cover? I’ll post it here and you’ll be famous too.
