Harsh Reality is one of the seminal tape labels from the 80’s and into the present, featuring the music of label head Chris Phinney and his long running Mental Anguish project. Phinney was heart behind Tapegerm during its main activity, helping me with the website on a daily basis.
Chris published nine issues Malice zine from 1982 to early 1985 which are available to read on Hal McGee’s HalTapes pages dedicated to Harsh Reality Music (an exhaustive compendium with complete discography and much more).
The Harsh Reality Music back catalog is currently being released on bandcamp.
