How to Write Songs: A Platform Dedicated to Songwriting Mastery

‘How to Write Songs’ is an innovative platform designed to help individuals improve their songwriting skills. Founded by Keppie Coutts and Benny Romalis, both professional songwriters with a wealth of experience in the music industry, this website is a treasure trove for songwriters at all stages of their career.

Keppie Coutts, who has released three studio albums and two EPs, has co-written songs that have collectively streamed over 10 million times in the past two years. She has also had an album of original songs commissioned for release on the Penguin Random House audiobook, Mothertongues. Her expertise isn’t limited to songwriting alone – she has been teaching songwriting at some of the world’s best contemporary music institutions, including the Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Benny Romalis, on the other hand, started his musical journey with poetry and guitar playing, which led to the writing, recording, and release of two original albums under his name. He’s a founding member of the alt-country band The Green Mohair Suits and the founder of Silamor Studios, a boutique studio specializing in composition for film, television, gaming, and video production. He has also taught courses on songwriting, production, and composition at universities and colleges in Australia.

The aim of ‘How to Write Songs’ is to share the skills, knowledge, and ideas that Coutts and Romalis have gathered over the past 20 years. They believe that songwriting, like all things, can improve with meaningful and deliberate practice. The platform offers intensive workshops, online courses, songwriting groups, and live song feedback sessions, all designed to elevate your songs to the highest possible level using craft and creativity.

Whether you’re an aspiring songwriter looking to take your craft to a professional level, or a seasoned artist seeking to improve and develop an engaged relationship with your listeners, ‘How to Write Songs’ offers the tools, community, and feedback necessary to achieve your goals.

‘How to Write Songs’ is more than just a website – it’s a community for songwriters dedicated to their craft. With its comprehensive resources and experienced founders, it provides a supportive and informative environment for songwriters to learn, grow, and create their best songs.
