about dabodab

You may have arrived here by way of one of the topics in the right-hand sidebar, which are websites I’ve built over the years which are now residing together under the dAbodAb banner. It’s seemingly chaotic and ad hoc but there’s a method to the madness. At least I think so.

Much of the madness revolves around my passion for making music in my home recording studio. I began publishing GAJOOB as a local print zine. I worked in a print shop and got an old Mac 512 being retired for $50, along with Pagemaker on two disks. It was 1987.

I interviewed local bands at shows and practice spaces and interviewed hometapers in cassette culture around the world mostly by mail; and reviewed thousands of tapes, CDr’s, zines and all kinds of stuff. I still do that here so feel free to send me a link or send me something in the mail.

General Topics

Music

Lots of things sprang out of GAJOOB activities. Lots of websites including homemademusic.com, tapegerm.com, discoversounds.com and many others. You’ll find more information about them through the links in the sidebar.

Graphic Arts

I’ve worked at the same print shop company for nearly forty years. I kinda bleed PMS 485. And there’s a topic for that in the sidebar under The Joy Of Print. I’m working on a book that the kind of people I’ve helped over the years would find useful as a reference to getting things done when it comes to graphic communications. There’s also a quarterly newsletter.
